E.L.F. HD Blush Product Review

I found out about the E.L.F HD Blush last year and purchased them whilst on a E.L.F. product binge because they were recommended by YouTuber Missy Lynn a.k.a start2finishmua.

The E.L.F HD Blushes are creamy liquid blushers much like the MakeUp Forever HD Blush (the older formulation) but unlike the MakeUp Forever Blushers these gems retail at the much cheaper price of £4.50 for 10ml (rather than £23.50). Now I can't really compare how much of a dupe these are to MakeUp Forever version however I intend to give you all the details on how these products perform regardless.

The E.L.F HD Blushes come in five shades which are Headliner, Superstar, Diva, Encore and Showstopper. The range has three pinks, one coral/peach and a purple. Although I did enjoy all of the shades it would be nice if the range also included a bronze or red-tone blush as well.

E.L.F. claims these "Rich and creamy HD Blush naturally sculpts and highlights the cheekbones for a soft-focus effect that is great for everyday use. However the first thing you notice about these blushes are just how pigment they are especially Encore and Diva which are the most pigmented blushes I have ever seen. Now often people complain that makeup products aren't pigmented enough however I'd never thought I'd be complaining about a product that is too pigmented! A small drop of one of these blushes produces an intense colour pay off which actually makes the blush rather hard to apply. So you have to be very careful with your application or your could end up looking more clownish than soft-focus.

I find the best way to apply this blush is with a duo-fibre brush or makeup sponge as this will diffuse the pigmentation and get more subtle blush look. If you apply too much layer a bit of foundation with the same brush/sponge and/or add a skintone pressed powder to further diffuse and set the blush in place.

The staying power is really good because the cream dries to a matte finish although the shimmer means the finish still look luminous.

Another use for the E.L.F. HD Blush is actually as a lip product as the creamy texture and intense pigmentation, make it double as a great matte lip cream like Sleek Matte Mes or MUA Luxe Lip Creams. This is great for those of us who struggle to pair blush and lip colours as this multitasking product can be worn both ways.

When I first got these I was impressed with the packaging because although it doesn't look incredibly high-end but I found the pump worked well and the size is generous & travel friendly. However with time the consistency of the cream seems to get thicker and the pump gets harder to use.

All in all, I don't know if I can completely recommend these blush although they are quite fun to play with and very pigmented, these aren't really the most user-friendly blushes to add to your beauty regime.

ELF HD Blush in Headliner
E.L.F. HD Blush in Headliner
This is a pale pink blush with fine silver shimmer, not as pigmented as the rest which makes it easier to work with. A nice shade and easier to apply then the brighter blushes, gives a nice subtle pink glow when applied correctly. If you have fairer skin this would also look really nice on the lips too.

A pigmented deep warm purple blush. After struggling to apply this I do like how it looks on the cheeks and on the lips it transform into a rather vampy purple lip colour.
