DIY BEAUTY: Face, Body and Foot Scrubs

Body scrubs are a great way to keep your skin smooth, soft and silky. What a body scrub basically does is exfoliate away the dead skin cells that sit on the top layer of skin to reveal fresher, younger looking skin. Exfoliants are also great for preventing ingrown hairs if you wax or epilate.

I love making my own body scrubs at home because they fun, easy and inexpensive to make plus you can alter them to your skin care needs. Check some of these easy-to-make concoctions for face and body scrub below, all you have to do is mix in the listed order...

Face Scrubs

For Oily Skin - Milk & Honey Scrub
1 tsp skim milk
1 tsp honey
1 tbsp ground almonds

For Dry Skin - Sugar Scrub
1 tbsp white cane sugar
1 tbsp vegetable glycerin or 1 tbsp avocado oil
Few drops of your favourite essential oil 
For Sensitive Skin - Oatmeal Scrub
1/2 cup cornmeal
1/4 cup soy, almond, or rice milk
2 tsp baking soda
1 tbsp olive oil
Few drops tea tree oil (optional)

For Normal Skin - Brown Sugar & Honey Scrub
1 tsp. pure honey
1/4 cup light olive oil
1 cup raw brown sugar
2 tsp. fresh citrus zest

Body Scrubs

To Firm Skin - Coffee Body Scrub
¼ cup ground coffee beans
1½ cups raw sugar (use pure cane sugar for sensitive skin)
¼ cup shredded coconut
¾ cup macadamia nut oil or olive oil
1 tsp honey
2-5 drops essential oil of choice

For Hydrating Dry Skin - Salt Glow Scrub
1/2 cup oil (sweet almond or grapeseed oil)
1 cup fine sea salt
5-10 drops of your favourite essential oil 
For Soothing Skin - Banana Body Scrub
1 ripe banana
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
¼ teaspoon pure vanilla extract or your favorite essential oil (optional)

For Glowing Summer Skin - Sugar Almond Scrub
2 tsp olive oil
2 tsp sweet almond oil
1/2 cup white cane sugar
1-3 drops lavender essential oil

Foot Scrubs

For Softer Smoother Feet - Brown Sugar Foot Scrub
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons ground oats
2 tablespoons aloe vera gel
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 teaspoon almond oil
For Tired Feet - Salt Scrub
1 cup of sea salt or Epsom salt
1/2 cup of cold water
2 drops of lavender essential oil
